Organizational Ecological Network Map

(adapted from Chope and Toporek, 2007)

Identify relevant individual, institutional (agency), community, and societal relationships that influence your work.

  1. You are in the center of the map.
  2. Who are the individuals within your organization in terms of their relation to you?
  3. What agencies and organizations are affiliated with your organization (e.g., funders, interagency collaboration, city or state government, etc.)
  4. What are the broader societal forces that influence your organization?

This exercise provides you with the opportunity to understand the existing political structure, alliances and conflicts as well as untapped resources.
